I had the same problem and after looking up everything this was how i got it to work. Uninstalled steam on ssd, using a handy uninstaller software, then rebooted pc, re-configured steam to use my controller again, tryed running a game, and controller works again, and games (TWD:Final Season), aren ot crashing any more. after a reboot, it got all confused, probably why my controller stopped working, and probably why certain games ( TWD:Final Season) were, crashing to desktop. now both devices work, with it powered, so happy.ĮDIT: i fixed my problem, i had the main steam software installed on my ssd(system drive) and i still had an older version of steam still installed on my 4tb drive, which i switched the shortcut to older steam. If you have/ use any powered usb hubs, use the power cable that came with it, as my pc didnt have enough power, to keep a webcam & a blue nessie mic, running at same time, my usb 3.0 hub needed to be powered, lucky i had some somthing that worked to power it. its mainly used to save battery usage for laptops, not recommended for desktop pcs, really IMO, If your having usb device problems. Switchblade489, i can recommend you check with the device manager, and see if you have all your usb drivers, have the option switched off/untick "allow computer to turn off this device to save power", turn off, for any usb hubs you use also, especially if you have your xbox wireless adapter connected to a hub.
